Todd A. Kaufmann of Carmel, IN passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at his residence. Born in Levittown, NY, Todd enjoyed a diverse upbringing, traveling the world on many family vacations as a child. He exhibited an early interest in music and entered the Manhattan School of Music Preparatory Program while he was attending high school. He went on to graduate from the Manhattan School of Music in 1978 with a Bachelor's Degree in Tuba Performance.
Todd continued teaching privately and performing in New York City and surrounding areas with various ensembles. Todd performed with the Santa Fe Opera for more than ten seasons and often spoke fondly of this time in his life. He continued his education in 2005-2006 at Butler University, where he obtained his Masters Degree in Music Composition. While studying, performing, and composing at Butler, he also conducted several ensembles. When not engrossed in music, Todd was a perpetual student of any subject he felt he could learn more about. He enjoyed watching classic films and reading, and he truly treasured his friendships.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice H. Dyck Kaufmann and Francis “Frank” Joseph Kaufmann. He is survived by his sister, Hannah Levy (Christine Kaufmann Levy; Husband, Allen Levy) of Denver, CO, and countless loving friends and acquaintances who will greatly miss him and his witty sense of humor.
