Saundra Brown,

77, of Indianapolis, passed away February 29, 2020. She was born on January 25, 1943 to the late Archid and Lillian Brown. Saundra was a 1960 graduate of Washington High School, Ball State University, and then received her Masters from IUPUI. She was a teacher at Washington Township Schools for 20 years; 17 years at North Central and 3 years at Westlane as well as Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility.

Saundra was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church, Indiana State Teachers Association, National Teachers Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma International Society.

She is survived by her son, Larry Gross Jr.; granddaughter, Madisaun Gross; sisters, Verne Emerson-Carter and Claretta Griffin; brother, Byron Brown; and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clem Tiggs Sr.

Saundra had so many friends and so many students whose lives she touched and made richer.  Stories abound and you may want to share some with each other about a life well lived.  A memorial gathering will be held Tuesday, March 10th in the parlor at Union Chapel Church, 2720 East 86th Street.  Everyone is welcome at 4 PM.  A service will take place at 4:30 PM and then the gathering will continue after the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
