Sande Marie (Scherbroeck) Phillips

Sande Marie (Scherbroeck) Phillips was born in Moline, IL on January 14, 1959 to Donald and Betty (Watt) Scherbroeck. Sande fought a long and courageous battle with cancer and passed into eternal peace on April 1, 2021, her loving husband Richard Phillips as always by her side.

Forever bright and cheerful, Sande was a nurturing, caring and compassionate mother, nurse, wife and friend.  Sande’s career as a nurse highlighted her deeply caring personality and way of life for over 40 years. Her brave spirit and gentle vibrance would light up any room, as would her beautiful smile and astounding energy.  Sande meant so much to so many.

Sande spent her earlier years developing her skills and intellect at St. Augustine College in Illinois where she graduated with honors.  Through many ensuing years of nursing and training, she earned her masters’ degree while working full time at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital. Sande deeply loved caring for patients and mentoring those learning around her. She spoke frequently about the honor she felt working side by side with a wonderful group of fellow nurses.

Sande was a selfless healer and would always jump at an opportunity to help others and she did so with joy - at home, at work and in all aspects of her life.  Her warmth, generosity and powerful spirit will be forever held in our hearts.

Sande is survived by her husband, Richard Phillips; son, Nicholas (Cory) Frutiger; beloved grandchildren, Maddox and Makenzie; siblings, Suzi (Tom) Butler and Scott (Paula) Scherbroeck; nephew, Blake; step-children, Katie (Lucas) Nelson, Becca (Kenny) Phillips, Travis (Amie) Lain, and Anna Phillips; grandchildren, Silas, Oliver, Nixon, Krystian, and Megan; and great-grandson, Rainer.

A visitation will be held in her honor at ARN Funeral & Cremation Services, 11411 N. Michigan Rd., Zionsville, IN 46077 on Monday, April 5th from 2 - 4 PM.
