Michael Eugene Nieman,
76, of Indianapolis, passed away July 3, 2021. A lifelong resident, Michael was born to Thomas Eugene Nieman and Marjorie Mae Parker Seaman on November 13, 1944. He was a graduate of Zionsville High School, class of 1964 and proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He retired from many years of sales in the electrical business, and later packaging supplies.
Michael was a member of the American Legion and VFW. There he was affectionately known as "Iron Mike". In his free time, Mike enjoyed playing cards, watching movies and listening to music - mainly "Doo Wop". He also had a love for animals, especially his dog Bailey whom he lovingly referred to as "Fuzz Butt". Another passion of his was cars, he was very proud of his Chevy SSR truck.
He is survived by his wife, Leslie Nieman; daughter, Mechel Nieman; grandchildren Jayln, Jordon and Brooklyn; great-grandchildren, Laikyn and Parker; sister Angela (Greg) King; niece, Alicia (Gage); and great-niece, Bonnie. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, and step-daughter, Rhonda Spears.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, July 25, 2021 at the American Legion Post #155, 852 West Main Street, Carmel, IN 46032. Seating for the military honor service will be at 2 PM followed by an open house gathering with family and friends for refreshments.
