Francis E. (Taylor) McCracken

Francis E. Taylor McCracken,

age 96, passed away on December 31st, 2020. Francis was born February 16, 1924 in Princeton, Indiana to the late Samuel Clifton and Lenora Belle Taylor.  She attended Princeton Community Schools, graduated from Reitz Memorial High School of Evansville, Indiana, and Lockyear’s Business College.  Francis married Carl Robert “Bob” McCracken on April 12, 1947. They were married 59 years at the time of his death June 28, 2006.  Also preceding her in death was her brother, Herschel William Taylor.  Francis is survived by her daughter, Karen L. McCracken of Indianapolis.

Francis was employed as a secretary and a typist throughout her working years at companies in Evansville, New Albany, and Indianapolis.  Relocating with her husband to Indianapolis in 1958, she was secretary for IPS School 79 (1961-65). Until retirement, she worked as a specification typist for several local Indianapolis engineering firms.

She enjoyed 20 years of volunteer work with Westview Hospital Guild, especially the Westview Hospital Senior Circle. While residing at Westside Garden Plaza Independent living the past 7 years, much of her time and energy was with activities for their “New to You Boutique”.  Francis was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis.

At her request, no service will be held at this time.  A Celebration of Life gathering is tentatively planned for early this summer.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor's favorite charity.  Please share a memory or condolence by visiting the online obituary at www.arnmortuary.com.
