Clyde Roscoe "Doc" Myers

September 28, 1921 — September 15, 2022

Clyde Roscoe “Doc” Myers, 100 years old, passed away on September 15, 2022- just 13 days before his 101st birthday. Clyde was born on September 28, 1921 in Terre Haute, IN. He attended Wylie High School and Indiana State University where he completed a B.S. in Education and played football for the Indiana State Sycamores. Clyde was honored in 2019 at a football game as being the oldest, living “letterman” at Indiana State University. He was very proud of this honor and enjoyed all the festivities of the day.

Clyde served in the Army Air Corp, the European Theatre, during World War II.  After his service, he completed his M.S. in Education at Indiana University.  Clyde taught elementary and high school students in Indianapolis Public Schools, Lawrence Township, Franklin Township and Perry Township. He spent the last several years of his career teaching Special Education at Rise Learning Center, retiring in 1987.

Clyde was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; his parents; and four siblings. He is survived by his son, Ross (Jeanne) Myers; his granddaughter, Kerry Myers; as well as several nieces, nephews and long-time friends. A special thanks to the staff at Kraft Commons and Hooverwood Living who lovingly cared for Clyde these last few years.

According to Clyde’s wishes, there will be no services.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Special Olympics of Indiana .
