Christy Lee Wineinger

October 24, 1957 — May 5, 2023

Indianapolis

Christy Lee Wineinger passed away on May 5, 2023 in Indianapolis, IN. She was born in Bedford, IN. She is survived by daughters, Laura Christine Wineinger and Leah Marie Wineinger; parents, Sally Christine Mitchell Copeland and Clarence Eddie Wineinger; stepmother, Aileen (Clevenger) Wineinger; and sisters, Susan Kanish, Linda Rose (Mark), and Rebecca Wineinger; and stepsister, Kelly Thornton. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Philip Copeland.

Christy was the mother of two beautiful intelligent daughters whom she loved more than anyone in this world. An avid lover of plants, her knowledge of herbs and their medicinal use was extensive. She also loved animals and passed that on to her children. She loved every animal she encountered, especially her girls’ pets.

Christy was a very hard worker. In her teens she baked for Rene’s French Cafe in Broad Ripple. Later, she greeted and hosted at Houlihan’s Old Place Restaurant in the Glendale Mall. She was recognized as Employee of The Year, winning a trip to the Bahamas. She was valued and loved there. After, she worked for her dad and stepmother at the family business. Her entrepreneurial spirit and love for plants was an inspiration to create landscaping. Kroger in Nora was her final workplace in the floral department, where her beautiful smile and knowledge was appreciated and welcomed by many customers. Many loved shopping there because of her presence.

From an early age, maybe four or five years old, she was inspired by music. Her childhood home was always filled with piano music played by her mother Sally. Christy was a self taught pianist that loved composing, and she numbered her individual pieces. Her music was analogous to the New Age genre which appeared ten years later in the mainstream. She was ahead of her time. Her sisters have so many wonderful memories of her at the Wurlitzer piano. The beautiful compositions touched our souls drawing us into her world.

Christy’s quick wit and love of humor was an endearing quality, making family celebrations full of laughter. She was always ready with jokes and funny anecdotes. Her humble nature allowed her to even joke about herself. Her individuality was unmistakable. She loved and was loved by so many and will be deeply missed.
