Yolanda Lucille Lobodinski

August 30, 1928 — October 30, 2025

Born in East Chicago, Indiana and long time resident of Calumet City, Illinois

After 97 years of life abundant with blessings Yolanda succumbed to the challenges of various health conditions. She is survived by her daughter Sandi (Rob) Moon and daughter-in-law Pat (widow of Joe) Lobodinski. Grandchildren include Stephanie (Zach) Landrum. Nicole (Alex) Slaten, Christopher Moon, Joe (Dianna) Lobodinski, David (Kristen) Lobodinski, Christina (Dale) Sanchez and step grandchildren, Heather Dempsey and Mike Kotellis. Yolanda was also blessed with numerous great grandchildren.

As a 1950 graduate of St.Francis Womens College in Joliet, Illinois Yolanda was a strong, intelligent woman whose independence was not traditionally exhibited by women of that era. She pursued a career as a Medical Technologist in Hematology and later as an industrial Chemist. Her career began at St.Margaret Hospital in 1950 followed by many years at Standard Oil employee clinic in Whiting, Indiana, Hammond Health Department and retirement from Kiel Chemical Corporation in Hammond, Indiana.

Yolanda married Joseph Lobodinski on September 9th, 1950. Two children later completed their family. Yolanda loved family gatherings and traditional Polish holiday celebrations. Her passion for cooking was always enjoyed by those she entertained. Yolanda was a very outgoing individual. She loved to travel and upon her return home would use her culinary skills to share the exotic dishes she experienced in her travels.

Family, however, was always Yolanda's priority. Her greatest pride in life being her grandchildren. They were her most precious blessing and gave her unsurmountable joy. Their individual accomplishments set goals for her. It is without doubt that their love and her desire to see them achieve their goals were the driving force in her will to continue her 97 year journey.

Yolanda has been preceded in death by her husband Joseph Lobodinski, son Joe Lobodinski, sister Marianne (Norman) Wright and parents Ben (Valeria) Wozniak.

Yolanda will be greatly missed not only by her family but by the many friends she gathered throughout the years. Rest easy now beautiful lady and enjoy some jitterbug to the big band sounds of Glen Miller. Forever in our hearts...
