Yelena Cheskis

Yelena Cheskis, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on June 14, 2024. She was born on August 15, 1927, in Turov, Belarus. 

Her family will remember her for her strength and perseverance. 

Yelena, an electrical engineer by training, taught high school math during her career. Yelena had an incredible gift for connecting with her students. She received countless letters over the years thanking her for her expert instruction, which enabled her former students to launch into prestigious careers.

Yelena's legacy is not just in her professional achievements but also in the love and care she bestowed upon her family. She leaves behind her sons, Boris (Rita) Czeskis and Michael Cheskis, and her grandchildren, Natalia (Max), Alexei (Lyuba), Anton (Liz), Arnold, Avital and Mike (Aleksiya) and 9 great grandchildren. 

Yelena was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Cheskis, in 1997.

The funeral service to honor Yelena's life will take place on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Funeral Home, located at 11411 N. Michigan Road, Zionsville, IN 46077. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her late husband in the Beth-El Zedeck North Cemetery. Shiva/ after family gathering will be held following services at the family residence from 5-8PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Community Center of Greater Indianapolis.
