William Douglas White
75, of Zionsville, passed away December 13, 2021. He was born in Alexandria, Virginia to Paul Thomas & Sally Jane (Winkworth) White on February 6, 1946. Bill graduated from Grand Haven High School where he was an Eagle Scout, a national merit scholarship winner, and a state champion high jumper. Bill graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1970. He worked for Townsend & Bottum, Inc. for 18 years in project management, living in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania & Utah. He moved to Indiana in 1992 to work for Duke Energy for 16 years. He married the love of his life, Jane (Ziegler) in Detroit, Michigan on May 7, 1971. The pair spent 50 wonderful years together.
Bill was intelligent, charming, athletic and fun-loving. He had a great sense of humor and viewed the world with tongue firmly planted in cheek. He was an avid reader and loved history and murder mysteries. He also loved animals and named his cats after his favorite authors and detectives.
Bill loved all kinds of music, from rock and roll, to rhythm and blues to Gregorian chants. After his retirement, he wrote reviews of both classical and opera cds and dvds for Fanfare magazine.
He is survived by his wife, Jane; sister, Barbara (Brian) Corbett of Jonesville, MI; nephew Scott Corbett, and niece Kristi (Nate)Drake.
Services will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be made to Transitions Hospice .
