Wendell McIntyre

Wendell McIntyre,

91, of Noblesville, IN, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2020.  He was born in Vinton, IA on August 3, 1928 and spent his school years in Ida Grove, IA.  He was a proud Korean War veteran having served his country based at SAC Headquarters in Omaha, NE.

After graduating from the University of Iowa, he moved to Chicago where he married Marjorie Frank, his wife of almost 65 years.  Although Wendell was experienced as an industrial engineer, he never gave up his love of music.  He played his trumpet in various settings for over 60 years.  During his life in Illinois, he was a member of the American Legion Post 84 band of Aurora, IL, and started his own dance band, Music by McIntyre.  Wendell enjoyed lapidary work, creating many beautiful pieces of jewelry, and designed wood carvings of American shore birds.

Moving to Arkansas in 1980, he and Marjorie operated McIntyre Paint and Decorating in Bentonville and then continued in the home improvement business by opening a studio using his own lengthy experience refinishing furniture.  Wendell served as president of the Bentonville Kiwanis and was a member of the Bella Vista Big Band which played in Washington, DC at an inaugural ball of President Clinton.  The family later relocated to Noblesville, IN.

Wendell is survived by his wife, Marjorie; daughter, Joan (Michael – d) Cannon; son, Gregory (Joanne) McIntyre; granddaughters, Andrea (Ryan) Keller, Elizabeth (Jacob) Riley, and Sarah McIntyre; and brother, Kent McIntyre.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and James; and sisters, Marjorie and Elizabeth.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the caregivers of Home Instead of Noblesville and St. Vincent Hospice for their assistance and care of Wendell.
