Our world has lost some of its luster. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Walter E. Wolf, Jr. He peacefully passed away surrounded by family on June 5, 2025 at the age of 93.
Walter was a devoted husband to Joan and they were married for 68 years when Joan passed away in 2024. Walter and Joan lovingly raised and are survived by their four daughters, Janet (Andy) Bradtke, Marilyn Wilkinson, Judy (Daniel) Wolf Weiker and Susan (Frank) Wolf Impicciche. He is also survived by his seven grandsons, two granddaughters, and two great granddaughters.
Walter was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 28, 1931. Walter attended Shortridge High School in Indianapolis and went on to study at Harvard University and Harvard Law in Boston, MA. After serving in the army, Walter returned to Indianapolis and began his legal career with the firm of Baker and Daniels. Walter then went on to co-found the firm of Klineman, Rose, Wolf and Wallach. Walter was well respected in the Indianapolis legal community and held the trust and respect of his clients and colleagues throughout the decades of his career
Walter was a pillar of the Jewish Community. He served as president of the Jewish Federation and Hooverwood at the time the Jewish senior facility was being built. Walter and Joan were also great supporters of the arts. They donated their extensive collection of fine graphic art by some of the most important and world celebrated artists to the Indianapolis Museum of Art and to the Indiana University Eskenazi Museum of Art in Bloomington, IN where the works can be enjoyed by everyone.
Walter’s greatest legacy is the love and kindness he gave to his family, friends, colleagues and community. His grace, wisdom, integrity, compassion and humor will be greatly missed by everyone. We are richer for having known, loved, and been loved by Walter. We are so grateful for the fullness of his life and having been part of it. In our hearts, the sky is a little dimmer for having lost a star.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to President & Fellows of Harvard College and mailed to Harvard University, PO Box 419209 Boston, MA 02241-9209, The Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis at 6705 Hoover Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46260, or The Parkinson’s Foundation at PO Box 6003, Albert Lea, MN 56007-9902.
