Virginia Ann "Ginny" Crook passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 98. Born on August 18, 1926, in Monroeville, Indiana, she was the only child of Harry and Velma Robinson. She was raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana and graduated from North Side High School. Her first year of college was spent at Western College for Women in Ohio. She then transferred to Purdue University, graduating in 1949 with a degree in Early Childhood Development.
While at Purdue, she met her future husband, Edward J. Crook, Jr. After meeting at a sorority-fraternity baseball game, they began a three year courtship and married upon graduation in 1949. Together they raised three children who were the joy of her life. Ginny and Ed made their home in Fort Wayne for many years and then in Tulsa, Oklahoma for 48 years. After Ed's retirement, they bought a condo on a golf course in Ft. Meyers, Florida where they spent winters for 20 years. In 2020, they moved to Hoosier Village in Indianapolis to be closer to family. Last summer they celebrated 75 years of marriage, a testament to their love and devotion to each other.
Ginny enjoyed life to the fullest. She was an active alumni member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, a hospital volunteer, an accomplished bridge player and first crew on their beloved sailboat, the Hullablue. She loved traveling and made numerous trips abroad. But her favorite trips were sailing with Ed and friends in the British Virgin Islands. She and Ed would also travel from state to state to attend their grandchildren's birthdays, graduations, weddings and delighted in family vacations and treating her grandchildren to visits at their home during the summers.
Ginny is survived by her devoted husband, Ed; her sons, Steven (Daria) Crook of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and Jeffrey (Maureen) Crook of Norman OK; her daughter, Catherine (George) Lohmeier of Indianapolis, IN; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Ginny will be remembered above all for her love and devotion to her family and her legacy will continue to thrive through them. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Velma Robinson.
