Victoria Christina Hill Resnick

Victoria Christina Hill Resnick, a passionate professor, mother, mentor, and friend, died at home in Greenwood, Indiana, on October 11, 2025, after a long struggle with alcoholism. She was 54.

Victoria was born on July 19, 1971, to Christi Hill (née Adams) and Victor E. Hill IV, and grew up in Williamstown, Massachusetts. She sang in the church choir with her younger brother, Christopher, and spent time at her grandparents’ cabin in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, which remained a favorite retreat. She attended Mt. Greylock schools and Governor Dummer Academy (now known as The Governor’s Academy), where she fell in love with theater and history. As a beloved camp counselor for many years at Procter Camp in southern Ohio, she gained a passion for working with youth which lasted throughout her life.

At Kenyon College in Ohio, Victoria double-majored in History and English, graduating with Highest Honors in 1993, and met her husband, Hugh Resnick. They were married on August 20, 1994, and lived in Chicago while Hugh earned a master’s degree. Victoria and Hugh then moved to Bloomington, Indiana, where Victoria pursued a PhD in History at Indiana University, specializing in pre-colonial New England. She and Hugh welcomed two daughters there, Hannah and Abby, and moved to Greenwood in 2003. After writing her dissertation, Victoria became an award-winning teacher, instructing hundreds of students online through the IU Department of Continuing Studies in history and later teaching at Franklin College and Butler University. Her students admired her enthusiasm and love for her subject matter. For her part, she was deeply invested in their success and developed lifelong friendships through teaching.

Victoria was very active with The Episcopal Church, singing and travelling with the choir at Trinity Episcopal Church, Indianapolis. Her many friends and family will remember her knack for storytelling, her great sense of humor, and her exuberant laugh. She read constantly and instilled her passion for books, especially The Chronicles of Narnia and the Harry Potter series, in her children. She had a deep love for the original Doctor Who, amassing a collection of rare VHS copies and befriending many fellow enthusiasts along with her brother; knitting, including a stint helping crafters with their projects at Joann Fabrics; murder mysteries, with a particular fondness for Agatha Christie; her dogs, Jack, Sam, and Fritz; and wombats.

Victoria is survived by her husband, her daughters, and her brother, Christopher Hill (Hilke Neuerburg).

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on November 15, 2025, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 3243 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis, Indiana, with interment to follow at the church. All are welcome.
