Age 98

Thelma Gorshel Feldman of Carmel, IN passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 12, 2025. Thelma was born November 21,1926 to Harry and Dorothy Livingstone Gorshel in Everett, MA.

Thelma married Larry Feldman, the love of her life, on July 4, 1948. Together, they raised their three children, Sharon, Richard, and Cindy.

Thelma will be remembered for her love of her family, wisdom, volunteering, golf, and playing cards. She was a good friend to many and loved reading and creating art – both painting and stained glass.

She gave back to the community in many ways: She was president of the Hospital Cheer Guild in Kokomo, a ten-year volunteer at Pennsbury Manor in Morrisville, PA, a twenty-plus-year volunteer at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, a life member of Hadassah, and an active volunteer in the synagogues she was a member of in Kokomo, Trenton, NJ, and IHC in Indianapolis.

Thelma is survived by her children Sharon Baldwin (Dave), Richard Feldman (Rhonda) and Cindy Schaefer; as well as by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Michael (Caity), Lily, Jack, and Sophie Baldwin; Andrew (Jeannie), Henry, Eloise, and Benjamin Baldwin; Jonathan Baldwin (fiance Jamie); Jill Feldman (Trey Sawyer), Blaire, and Grant Sawyer; Denise Feldman; Tom (Kit), Lulu, and Willie Schaefer. She is also survived by her sister Phyllis Aronson of Stuart, FL, and nieces and nephews.

Thelma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Feldman, her parents; her sister, Sylvia Goldberg; and her son-in-law, Robert Schaefer.

Funeral services will be held on May 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary,11411 N. Michigan Rd, Zionsville. Burial will follow at Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
