Arcadia

Terrence Matthew Hanley, age 64 departed on January 7th, 2024 surrounded by his family and closest friends. Terry is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carole German Hanley; daughters, Kelsey Hanley-Kollar (David) and Kayla Parker (Bobby); grandchildren, Holden Parker, Dane Parker, and Aven Parker; brothers, Tom Hanley (Margaret), Ed Hanley, Larry Hanley (Kathy), Pat Hanley (Joanna), and Bill Hanley; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Tom Hanley; and sister-in-law, Diane (Ed) Hanley.

Terry was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He was the youngest of six boys, which helped create his unique humor, quick wit, and outgoing personality.

At a young age, Terry was a fighter. His stellar boxing career began at Fenwick High School and he quickly gained the fighting name “Irish Mule”. Between his stellar boxing and football high school career, Terry’s competitive nature led him to play football at Purdue University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction Technology.

While at Purdue University, Terry played Nose Guard as #75. He enjoyed reliving his football days, including taking home wins at the 1979 Blue Bonnet Bowl, and the 1980 Liberty Bowl. Terry’s quick-witted nature made it easy for him to create strong friendships with people who remained by his side throughout the years.

Terry met Carole while in West Lafayette, Indiana. They married on September 14, 1985. Terry picked out “Brown Eyed Girl” for their first dance. The two enjoyed music, vacationing on the beach, spending time with family and friends, and especially being together.

Terry’s greatest love and joy in life was raising his daughters, and he never wavered when supporting them. He taught his daughters to appreciate nature, fight when life gives you lemons, and see the humor in everyday things. Terry loved being Papa to his three grandsons and was looking forward to welcoming his fourth grandson in March 2024.

Terry spent as much time as possible on the water kayaking, and fishing, and told epic tall tales. He never met a stranger.

Terry’s day of celebration will be held January 19th from 5:30 pm-8:30 pm at Remnant , 101 W. Main St. Arcadia, IN 40630.

Arrangements entrusted to Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Funeral Home, 11411 N. Michigan Road Zionsville, IN 46077
