Susan Rose Schwab

Susan Rose Schwab, age 74, passed away on July 26, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born to Martin Herbert Prince and Pearl "Peggy” Friedman Prince on November 3, 1950, Susan lived a life full of love, purpose, and service to others.

Susan was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School, and the University of Michigan.

Susan was a dedicated educator who devoted her career to helping children learn to read and grow in confidence. She served as both a beloved reading teacher and a respected Dean, shaping the lives of countless students with compassion, wisdom, and high expectations. Her commitment to education extended beyond the classroom—Susan was also a passionate advocate for educators as a leader of the Lawrence Education Association, where she worked tirelessly to support teachers and improve schools in her community.

After the tragic loss of her daughter to gun violence, Susan opened her heart and home once again—adopting and raising her granddaughter, Amoni Rose Schwab, with unwavering love, strength, and dedication. Amoni was the light of her life and her greatest source of pride and joy.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Amoni Rose Schwab, and by many others whose lives were touched by her compassion, advocacy, and resilience.

Graveside services will be held at Ohev Zedeck Cemetery, 150 Kelly Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, on Thursday, July 31st at 1:30 PM.   Rabbi Benjamin Sendrow is officiating.  All who knew and loved Susan are welcome to attend and honor her memory.
