Steven Reynolds Campbell

August 5, 1951 — May 21, 2025

Indianapolis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Reynolds Campbell, who departed this life on May 21, 2025, in Indianapolis. Born on August 5, 1951, in Terre Haute, Steve brought joy and warmth to those around him throughout his time on this earth.

Steve graduated from Arsenal Technical H.S. He worked in the mail room for the Indianapolis Star for more than 45 years.

Besides being a devoted family man, Steve enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking, stained glass, painting, and fishing. His commitment and diligence were evident in every task he undertook.

A loving husband, he shared a beautiful life with his wife, Linda Gholson Campbell. Together, they built a home filled with laughter and love. Steve was a father to three daughters: Sonya Smith (deceased), Toni Campbell, and Cheryl (Jim) Adkins. He was grandfather to his seven grandchildren.

In addition to his immediate family, Steve leaves behind cherished siblings: brother Charles P. Campbell, and sisters Robin (Jim) Duncan, Tracy Courtney, and Dana Machado. He is also survived by his step-mother Marge Campbell. These bonds were essential to him, and he treasured the moments spent with his family, always eager to support and uplift those he loved.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Patricia Campbell and his daughter Sonya Smith.

As we remember Steve, let us celebrate a life well-lived, full of devotion to family and friends and his personal Savior Jesus Christ. His kindness and gentle spirit will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be held close in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace until he sees Jesus,  face to face. And he will.
