Sonya Gayle Freed Silverman
93 years of age, passed away with her family by her side in Indianapolis, at Hooverwood Jewish Home.
She was the daughter of Battie and Frances Freed, born in Nashville, TN on May 5, 1923.
She was a graduate of Peabody Teachers College and then went on to teach elementary school in Highland, IN for many years.
She was a member of Temple Beth-El in Munster, IN and Temple Beth-El in St. Petersburg, FL. and a long time member of B'nai B'rith Women.
Graveside services will be held in Nashville, TN.
Survivors include her daughters, Joan (Gary) Simon of Covington, LA and Rita (Keith) Pitzele of Carmel, IN; 4 grandchildren, Deborah Claros, Adam Pitzele, Aaron Pitzele, Jordan Tauber; 9 great grandchildren, Sonya was the widow of Alvin Silverman.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Al Silverman Fund at Temple Beth-El of Munster or Hooverwood Jewish Home.
