Sandra T. Dubow Azmitia

February 9, 1938 — May 26, 2025

Sandra T. Dubow Azmitia, age 87, was born February 9, 1938, in Indianapolis. She lived in Glens Falls, NY.

She was a member of the Shortridge HS Class of 1956, Graduate of the Pasadena Playhouse of Theatre Arts, a member of Alpha Sigma Lamda Honor Society from Smith College for play writing and a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Massachusetts.

After several prominent leading roles, she graduated from the Pasadena Playhouse in 1958 with Dustin Hoffman. The two were accepted into the oldest continuously operated Performing Arts School in America, Perry-Mansfield in Steamboat Springs, CO. Not long after, she moved to New York City and settled down in Asbury Park, NJ and raised her three children. During the next 20 years, she appeared in summer stock, repertory, radio, and television. In 1980, she returned to her profession in Woody Allen’s film Stardust Memories. She was the recipient of Humanitarian and Community Awards for Child Advocacy activities. She authored several short plays, a collection of poetry and in 2009 published a memoir “Do It Differently, Do It Differently!”

Sandra’s second husband of 42 years, Harry Azmitia died in February. Her children survive her, Lisa Zimmerman, Michael (Wambuii) Jacobs, and Robert Jacobs; grandchildren, Joshua Zimmerman, Sage Zimmerman, Elijah Jacobs, Phoebe Jacobs, and Helen Elisabeth Jacobs; sister, Shelley T. Kulchin; and brother, David (Jennifer) DuBow. She was preceded in death by her father, Max Toiber; mother, Helen T. Frankovitz Dubow; stepfather, Jack Dubow; brother, Gary T. Dubow; and sister, Rosita T. (Allan) Zukerman, who died April 25th, 2025

The burial will take place at 11:30 AM on Sunday, June 1, 2025, in the Beth-El Zedeck Cemetery South in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Arrangements entrusted to Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Funeral Home, Carmel, Indiana.
