Samuel Paul

Jun 5, 1936 — Oct 27, 2026

Indianapolis

Samuel Paul passed away on October 27, 2026, in Indianapolis. He was 90 years old.

Born on June 5, 1936, in Satowali, India, Samuel’s life stretched across nine decades marked by endurance, learning, and devotion to family. During the civil war and the partition of India & Pakistan his entire family settled in Sialkot, Pakistan. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and got his first job at Mission Hospital in Sialkot, where he married his beautiful bride Said Sonlal.

They relocated to Faisalabad and then eventually to Lahore, where Sam worked at the U.S. Embassy as an accountant. They both built a very well established life with their 4 children. With an ambition for a better life for them and their family, Samuel & Said moved to America in 1973.

In the next 53 years Samuel worked hard to build the American Dream. He worked as an accountant for many years, then eventually worked to own a Gas Station and then a supermarket along with his younger brother. After eventually selling both he worked at CVS as a manager in his 70’s to keep himself busy. Samuel was also very involved in the local Pakistani and Indian community with his singing of Gazals, playing the tabla & harmonium. Samuel & his family also belonged to John Knox Presbyterian Church for many years then eventually Zionsville Presbyterian Church.

He is preceded in death by his father, Gulab Paul, his mother, Barkat Paul & younger brother Munawar Paul. Their memory remained part of the foundation from which his own life was built. He blessed many family members back home with his generosity.

Samuel leaves behind those who knew his love most closely: his wife, Said Paul, his daughters, Naila Kumar and her husband Ashok, Stella Wilson and her husband Bernard and his sons Joel Paul and Noel Paul and his wife Shilpa. He also has been blessed with 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. In their lives, his presence will continue in memory, in example, and in the quiet, lasting ways that family love endures across generations. May those who mourn him also find comfort in the years they shared with him and in the bond that remains unbroken in remembrance.
