Sam Mead Huston

Sam Mead Huston, longtime resident of Indianapolis passed away on December 27, 2023 at the age of 86.  He was born in Logansport, Indiana to Harry and Dorothy Chew Huston.  Sam graduated from Logansport High School in 1955, and Indiana University in 1959, where he was a member of Phi Psi Fraternity and the Board of Aeons.  Sam married the love of his life, Janet Steger in 1960, and began his lifelong insurance career.  He was a General Agent for Indianapolis Life and Mass Mutual from where he retired.

Sam had a tremendous impact on his many agents, clients, families and businesses.  He was an avid golfer, with memberships at Hillcrest C.C., Crooked Stick Golf Club and East Lake Woodlands in Oldsmar, FL.

Sam was a loving husband, an awesome father and an even better “popsi” (grandfather) and great grandfather.  Sam is survived by his wife of 63 ½ years, Janet; his sons, Steven (Dawn)Huston and Sam Huston and daughter, Heidi (Dean)Phillips; brothers, Tom Huston and Michael (Joanie) Huston; grandchildren, Savanna (Ian) Weber, Sean (Maggie) Huston, Sydney Huston, Shelby Huston, Samantha (Matt) Pairitz-Robinson, Allie (Travis) Pairitz Knapp, Hannah Huston, Sam Matthew Huston, and Taylor Huston and 6 great grandchildren.  Sam was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Howard.

During the final weeks of his life, he was surrounded by his loving family.  His legacy will live on in the hearts of his many friends and family and he will be forever loved and cherished.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 12-3:00pm at Hillcrest Country Club, 6098 Fall Creek Road, Indianapolis, IN.
