Roberta "Bobbie" Beth Akers

Roberta Beth “Bobbie” Akers, 83, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, in Carmel, IN. Born October 28, 1942 in Crawfordsville, IN to the late Robert Grant and Mary McFerran Williams.

After graduating from Stephens College (Missouri), she earned a degree in dental hygiene from Indiana University in 1964. Bobbie was a dedicated and compassionate dental hygienist for over 20 years, a profession through which she cared for many in her community with skill and kindness.

Bobbie met and married the love of her life, Ken Akers, on July 1, 1967, and together they shared more than 52 years of marriage. They raised their three children on the north side of Indianapolis where Bobbie dedicated countless hours volunteering in her kids’ schools, clubs, and for their sports teams. 

Bobbie never knew a stranger, always quick to strike up a conversation when the opportunity arose. She was a deeply loving mother and grandmother, roles that brought great joy and meaning to her life. Bobbie was known for her warmth and unwavering support to those she held dear.

She is preceded in passing in 2019 by her cherished husband, Kenneth Howard Akers.

Bobbie is survived by her three adoring children, Kendra (Jayson) Parker, Greg (Sally) Akers, and Krista (Lawrence) Eidson; grandchildren, Tatum, Abby, Riley, Landen, Tynan, Trip, Janie, Truitt, Claire, and Will; and sister Marilyn Murray. 

There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at Meridian Hills Country Club, 7099 Spring Mill Rd, Indianapolis, IN on July 12, 2026, from 1pm-3pm, closing with a short service of remembrance and thanksgiving.
