Robert E. Ping, 88 of Lebanon, passed away January 13, 2024 at Zionsville Meadows.  He was born on May 22, 1935 to the late Elmer and Emma Ping in Somerset, Kentucky.  After finishing high school, Robert entered the military and honorably served as a United States Marine, serving from 1956-1959 as a Sergeant.

Robert married the love of his life, Carole (Pratt) Ping, on May 14, 1960.  They were able to spend 50 years together until she preceded him in death on June 27, 2010.

Robert was a prominent custom home builder in the community, owning and managing Ping Construction Company from 1959 to 2001, when he retired.  He remained as a consultant with the firm for a number of years, which is now operated by his son, Eric Ping.

He enjoyed woodworking in his free time.  He built many pieces of finely crafted furniture for his family.  Many weekends you could find Robert at antique auctions, which he enjoyed collecting many prized antiques.  He was also an avid fan of the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team, rooting them on whenever they played.

Robert enjoyed being a father, grandfather, and great grandfather, often attending his grandkids’ sporting events.

He is survived by his children, Christina (Alan) Martin of rural Mechanicsburg and Eric (Stacie) Ping of Lebanon; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Joyce Ping of Lebanon.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Ping; his eldest daughter, Lori (Ping) Goodman; son-in-law John Goodman; granddaughter, Elizabeth Goodman; and great grandson, Niahm Goodman.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date for immediate family.
