Prakash P Jog, 9/6/1940 - 9/2/2025
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Survived by his wife Alka, daughters Sonal and Monica, son in laws Jonathan and Chirag, grandsons Daniel, Nicholas, Niam and Bodan, younger sister Shashi, and nieces and nephews he was immensely proud of.
Prakash was the fifth of six siblings, and as the youngest boy took it upon himself to both annoy and emulate his older brothers. After earning his degree in Engineering, he came to the United States to pursue and achieve the American Dream. He went to night school and eventually worked his way up from the machine shop to management to a corner office. He was one of those rare people who truly loved and enjoyed his work, and there was nowhere he would rather be than on the shop floor tinkering with his latest assembly machine creation - made using only the best in Alkon valves and fittings, of course!
The only thing Prakash loved more than his work was his family, He was always there to lend a hand with rides to and from the airport and tours of NYC and Washington DC for visiting family and friends and friends of family and family of friends. And he was the original “Girl Dad” before that was a thing - braiding hair, packing lunches, making tea and toast for his wife before she left for work and being altogether too cheerful in the mornings for his household of non-morning people. His love for his daughters was later eclipsed by his love for his grandsons - 4 boys full of mischief just like himself who could do no wrong in his eyes. He took them for walks, outings to the zoo, cheered them on at their soccer games and taught them how to play carom and chess.
He had decided as his time on this earth was dwindling, that it was time for his soul to go off on a new adventure. Similar to how he had landed at JFK all those decades ago to start a new life in the USA, it was now time for his soul to start a new adventure off in the cosmos. Those of us left behind will miss him terribly, but when we look into the sky and see twinkling stars, we can be reminded that he is never truly gone so long as the people he loved and the lessons he taught live on. Safe travels, Prakash.
