Phil Maurice Wilson

A distinguished former member of the Indianapolis Fire Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department passed away on December 12, 2023.

A lifelong Hoosier, Phil was born on September 26, 1936, to the late Harold and Elizabeth Wilson.  He was a graduate of Tech High School and then proudly served his community in law enforcement.  He was also a gifted artist and used his craft as a medical illustrator for Indiana University School of Medicine.

Phil was an excellent cook and enjoyed providing for large family gatherings.  He was honored to be awarded a lifetime membership into the Bedford Boat Club and was a member of the Lions Club of Shelby County.

Funeral services will be on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 11:00 am in Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Funeral Home, 11411 N. Michigan Road.  Burial will follow in Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation North Cemetery.

Phil is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Glick Wilson; his children, Angela Keown, Becky Wilson (Alan Schoff), Craig Wilson, Susi Wilson Alonso (Andres) and George Wilson; his sister, Becky Bishop; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society.
