2026 Owen Daniel 2026

Owen Daniel Butler

May 22, 2026 — Jun 6, 2026

Zionsville

Owen Daniel Butler was born on Friday, May 22, and went to be with Jesus on Saturday, June 6, passing peacefully in his parents’ arms.

Though his time on Earth was brief, Owen's impact was immeasurable. During his two weeks of life, he touched the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He spent one week in the NICU at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital and one week in the NICU at Riley Children’s Health, where he was surrounded every day by the love of his family and the dedicated care of his medical teams.

Owen was brave, courageous, and strong from the very beginning. Through every challenge he faced, he showed a quiet strength that inspired those who cared for him.

He loved hearing his parents’ voices. He enjoyed being read to, rocked, sung to, and hummed to. Most of all, he loved holding hands. From his very first day, Owen was a big hand-holder, finding comfort and connection in the touch of those who loved him most.

While his life was far too short, Owen knew nothing but love. He was cherished every moment of his life and filled the lives of others with joy, hope, and love in return.

Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find peace in knowing that Owen is now with Jesus, held in perfect love and free from pain. His life was a gift, and his memory will remain a blessing to all.

Owen is survived by his loving parents, Nathan & Chelsea Butler, along with family and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Though we only held him in our arms for a short time, we will hold him in our hearts forever.

  • Join Nathan & Chelsea in Giving Back to Owen’s Medical Caregivers: Nathan and Chelsea were blessed to get to know so many incredible nurses who cared for Owen with such compassion, kindness, and love. The care he received at Peyton Manning and Riley will forever hold a special place in their hearts, and they would love to bless each of the nurses with a personal gift as a small way to express their gratitude. If you would like to join Nathan and Chelsea in honoring the amazing medical staff who walked alongside their family, contributions can be sent via Venmo to @ButlerChelsea (last 4 digits of phone number: 9685). Any additional funds beyond personal gifts will be used to bring meals into NICU medical teams or families of kiddos in the NICU.
  • IU Undiagnosed Rare Disease Clinic: Most of Owen's medical complications are largely unexplained. His case will be submitted to the Undiagnosed  Rare Disease Clinic in hopes that his case may help others and that someday, researchers may be able to compile enough clues to help explain Owen's medical challenges. Giving to this clinic will help ensure they are able to continue research on participants that have since passed.
