Mohanarao Venkata Devaraju, aged 80, departed us on June 28, 2025, in Carmel, Indiana. Born on August 25, 1944, in Kakinada, India, Mohan earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Kakinada University. He immigrated to the United States in 1971 and eventually became a distinguished aerospace engineer. He served the U.S. Department of Defense's Defense Contract Management Agency with dedication and expertise, laying the groundwork for a prolific career spanning 37 years, contributing to advancements in aerospace safety and technology.
Mohan was highly engaged in his local Indian community and was a valued member of the Greater Indianapolis Telugu Association (GITA), Sangeeta GITA, and International Hindi Association - Indiana, where he actively shared his love for music and singing. His passion extended into audio and visual recording, as he captured immemorable moments and events for these organizations, helping to preserve and celebrate cultural heritage for his family, friends, and community. Mohan also founded Manabadi - Indiana, teaching kids to read and write in Telugu.
He is preceded by his mother, Ranganayakamma Devaraju, and his father, D.V.S Narayana Murty. Mohan is survived by his beloved wife, Gayatri Rani Devaraju, and his two daughters, Sougandhi Lalitha (David) Backhaus and Lata Geeta DeVellen, along with his five grandsons Noah, Alex, Ian, Samuel, and Colin.
Mohan will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community members who will forever cherish his warmth and enthusiasm. His legacy will be remembered through the innumerable lives he touched in his personal and community endeavors.
