Minnie L Smith

Minnie Louise Smith peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on June 24, 2026 to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Minnie was born on May 28, 1948 in Canton, Mississippi to Howard and Lula Hart. Minnie, her mother Lula, and siblings relocated to East Chicago, Indiana while Minnie was still a young child.

Minnie attended Washington Elementary and Washington High School in East Chicago, Indiana. Minnie worked at several locations in Hammond and East Chicago where she met a lot of her lifelong friends. Minnie relocated to Indianapolis 13 years ago to live out her remaining years with her son and his wife, Edgar and Diane Smith, and her new church family at Rise Church.

Minnie leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Edgar (Diane) Smith; daughter, Cheryl Glover; sister, Mary Williams in California; brother, Howard Hart in Georgia; a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews; her special cousin, Corine Tucker; and special friends, Pat and Hope.
