Lewis "Mike" Eugene Mathis

Lewis Eugene “Mike” Mathis,

85, of Pittsboro, passed away February 18, 2022.  He was born to Harold and Lola (Mullnix) Mathis on October 26, 1936. He was a straight “A” student and graduate of George Washington High School.

His career path ranged from restaurant management to machinist. He settled in as a machine operator at Rexnord (formerly Link-Belt), retiring after 26 years.  He stayed busy in retirement by providing transportation for railroad conductors and later working for the City of Brownsburg.

He loved spending time with his family and found relaxation camping and fishing lakes, ponds, and rivers of Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Florida.  He also liked bowling and was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts.

Mike is survived by his brother, Joseph “Bud” (Lois) Mathis; two daughters, Caroline King and Theresa (Larry) Lee; and son, Dale (Sandy) Mathis.  He was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Megan, Jonathan, Joshua, Lauren, Jake and Dylan; and 4 great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Caidan, Noah and Houston.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Orval and Harold.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by A.R.N. Funeral & Cremation Services, 11411 N. Michigan Road.  A celebration of life will be scheduled for later this spring, details will be provided to friends and family at a later date.  All can leave a message of condolence or sign the guest book at
