Leslie Rosenberg

d. April 17, 2025

Leslie Joy Rosenberg (Nuger), 77 of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, April 17th, 2025. Born and raised in Springfield, MA, Leslie moved to New York and worked in the clinical lab at Bellevue Hospital. Soon after, she found her way to Indianapolis and started working at IU Medical Center which is where we met.

Leslie was my best friend for nearly 50 years. In that span of time, we enjoyed life to the fullest. There was not a day that went by that we did not talk on the phone or visit each other, even after she and her husband Steve moved to New York for 5 years. That gave us the opportunity to do some incredible sightseeing around Manhattan and Long Island, even visiting the set of One Life to Live.

Together, we embraced our job in hematology, enjoyed concerts, theatre, dining out, sushi, hiking in Utah, Arizona, and Colorado, camping in the woods of Ontario, fishing for walleye, and windsurfing at Eagle Creek. Scuba diving became a monthly event for us along with sailing on Lake Michigan, playing piano and violin in a small group, trips to Chicago, ice skating, snow skiing, riding horses at the Bob Evans Farm, Colts games, Yuletide Celebration, working at the Super Bowl, and most recently seeing two total eclipses, one in Kentucky and one in my back yard. Imagine that, how lucky were we to see that on this big blue marble. Each day with Leslie brought more excitement than the day before. I will miss her.

Leslie eventually retired from IU and began the next chapter up her life. Over the years we encountered many friends, especially Larry. Together they traveled to numerous countries and islands, enjoyed cruises, Alaska, the Panama Canal, Europe, the Smokey Mountains, and other beautiful places in the US. Leslie especially enjoyed traveling to Florida to see her sister and extended family. Those were good times and great memories for her and Larry. How lucky for them to find each other and spend the next 15 years embracing life to the fullest. For that I am forever grateful, especially his loving care the last 12 months of her life and now taking care of her beautiful and special cat Mazel.

Leslie is survived by her sister, Casandra Lieberman (Alan), their children, Seth and Andrew (Jen), great-nieces Becca and Emmy, stepchildren Amy B. Spay (Rob), Paul J. Rosenberg (Karen), and step-grandchildren Amanda and Samantha.

Leslie was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Stephen H. Rosenberg.

A private memorial service will be held in June at Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation North Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Funeral Home, 11411 N. Michigan Road
