Lawrence “Larry” Michael Laughlin, 82, Brownsburg, IN, passed away on July 6, 2021, after a long illness. Born November 10, 1938, in Anderson, IN, he was the son of the late Curtis F. Laughlin and Harriett A. (Badgley) Laughlin. Larry graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in 1956 and went on to serve in United States Air Force and returned to Anderson where his career began in the IT industry. Upon retirement, he liked working on computers and tinkering around the house.
Larry had a love for baseball and coached Little League for several years. He also had a penchant for adding an entire stick of butter to his single order of pancakes, while perpetually maintaining his cholesterol of 130.
Larry was very involved in many activities within the Vietnamese community. In 2017, Larry helped convert a church in Anderson, Indiana to the Pho Minh Buddhist Temple. He was always happy to assist with the paperwork, help the Nuns & Monk with their medical paperwork.
A couple years later he helped convert/build a brand new Temple in Franklin, Indiana. Arranging for plans, permits and contractor to get the construction started. Not only did he help with the large jobs in the community, but also with daily needs of friends and family.
Larry was dedicated to his family and extended family. He was universally loved by everyone who knew him or that he helped throughout his life.
Larry is survived by his longtime companion of over 20 years, Diep Tran; eight children, Doug (Lori) Laughlin of San Antonio, TX; Monica (Steve) Howell of Auburn, IN; Sue (Kevin) Koester of Fort Wayne, IN; Patrick Laughlin of Bend, OR; Joshua Laughlin of Anderson, IN; Nika (Derrick) Hudson of Anderson, IN; Lan (David) Tran Campbell; and Tai Anh Tran; siblings Ann (Dan) Welsh; Pat (Judy) Laughlin; and Peggy Lavelle; 22 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; 22 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael J. Laughlin; and brothers, Steve Laughlin, Denis Laughlin, Tim Laughlin, and David Laughlin.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2021, at ARN Funeral and Cremation Services, 11411 N. Michigan Rd., Zionsville, IN, with visitation one hour prior.
Larry will be sorely missed by many people. But we are sure he did not want to stay around during the Biden administration. He was very vocal during the election and after. Perhaps he is having conversations with Reagan and Roosevelt today.
