Larry Dean Land passed away on April 25, 2026, at his home in Noblesville, Indiana.
Larry was born on July 22, 1950, in Anderson, Indiana to Ralph “Dude” Land and Betty Joan (Trissel) Baughn.
These simple facts define the start and end of Larry’s life, but they don’t begin to cover the richness of all that came between.
Larry graduated from Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis in 1968. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969 during Vietnam and was stationed at Fort Jackson. On New Year’s Eve 1971, after his discharge from the Army, Larry married Cynthia Inglis, whom he had met in high school. Their commitment lasted 54 years until Larry’s passing.
After his military service, Larry attended Indiana University - Bloomington where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1975. He applied his education in a career designing and manufacturing fuel systems for Ford and Visteon for 30 years.
He began his career in 1978 at the Bedford, Indiana manufacturing plant, then transferred to the Enfield manufacturing plant near London, England from 1990 - 1993 and the Székesfehérvár manufacturing plant near Budapest, Hungary from 1997 - 2001, working as a fuel systems manufacturing supervisor. He finished his career in 2009 in Dearborn, Michigan as a fuel systems engineering supervisor. Larry gave his family the ultimate life by providing them with the opportunity to experience different countries and cultures.
After retirement, Larry committed himself to assisting with his daughter's small skincare business, helping her with everything from making lotion, to filling every bottle, to keeping financials that wowed every accountant who saw them.
He also pursued his passion for woodworking. He was a skilled craftsman who designed and created many pieces of fine furniture that adorn his family’s homes.
Larry was known among his family, friends, and co-workers for being a man of few words. But when he spoke, everyone knew it was important and mattered. He was a mentor to many, always listened, and cared deeply about the people in his life.
Larry loved watching his hummingbird feeders and the mourning dove nests on the covered porch. He loved Antiques Roadshow, The Price is Right, and babies. He loved the neighbor kids, the neighbor dogs, and taking naps with his cat, Jake. He believed only Germans made good beer. He always knew the answer to every question his daughter ever asked him. He died planning to make his wife another batch of ranger cookies the next morning.
He adored and is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cynthia Land; daughter, Tracy Land; son, Christopher Land; mother, Betty Joan (Trissel) Baughn; brothers, Ronnie (Debbie) Baughn and David (Mona) Baughn; brother-in-law, Jack Hartzler; sisters-in-law, Janice Baughn, Kathy Baughn, and Bonnie Baughn; and many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Ralph (Dude) Land; stepfather John H. Baughn; brothers, Albert "Butch" Baughn and John A. Baughn; sisters, Debbie Hartzler and Linda Dransfield; father-in-law, William Inglis; mother-in-law, Virginia (Cramer) Inglis; and sister-in-law, Robin (Inglis) Richardson.
