Joyce Marie Maxwell

Joyce Marie Maxwell, aka Nanny, gained her angel wings at 12:27 pm on Monday, June 20, 2022 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.  She was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully at the age of 80 years old.

On February 7th, 1961, she wedded the love of her life, Robert.  Together, they went on to have 1 child and enjoyed 60 years of marriage.

Nanny’s life would seem too short to many, but those of us who were blessed to be touched by her understood that her existence and the imprint she would leave on our lives would exceed the quantity of time she stayed here.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Beatrice and Curley West; sister, Theresa West-Williams; and  beloved husband, Robert Maxwell.  She is survived by her daughter, Roberta Perry; 2 granddaughters, Arianna Barham and Jennifer Carter; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Our matriarch, Nanny, was one of the strongest women to ever walk this earth and we were very blessed to have her as the head of our family.  We will never be able to fill the space she has left behind.
