Joseph M. Kauffman

June 20, 1941 — January 25, 2026

Joseph M. Kauffman, born on June 20, 1941, in Middlebury, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Also known as Joe or Pop Pop, he leaves behind a legacy marked by his dedication to both his family and his profession.

Joe was the proud owner of a home construction company that specialized in glass and screen patio enclosure, but his proudest moments came from the love he shared with his grandchildren; Will, Luke, Sydney, and Hayden. Pop Pop never missed an opportunity to attend their sports games, spark new adventures, cause mischief, or take them on a motorcycle ride.

Joe honorably served in the 82nd Airborne Army. His military service instilled a sense of discipline and dedication that remained paramount in his character. It was the summer of 2022, at the ripe age of 82, when he embarked on a skydiving trip that reminisced his 82nd Airborne days.

He is survived by his older brother, Sam Kauffman, his son, Harlan (Deb) Kauffman, his daughter, Harlene (Tom) Barta, and his grandchildren. Joseph’s loving children will remember him by his example of hard work and dedication to supporting those closest to him.

Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Monroe R. and Fannie Kauffman, as well as his brothers, Marion C. Kauffman and Daniel C. Kauffman. Their legacy of love and dedication to family is reflected in Joseph's life and the way he cherished those around him.

We will remember Joe as someone who never met a stranger, someone with a deep passion for motorcycles, and someone who dedicated his life to hard work at the service of those around him. Whether you knew him as family, as a friend, or once as a stranger, his memory will continue to resonate with all of us.
