Obituary

On the morning of February 11, 2026, beloved community member, Jeffery J. Woodcock, passed away. Born September 9, 1962, Jeffery departed this earth at the young age of 63, in his family home with loved ones beside him.

An accomplished individual, Jeffery graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Earlham College in 1985. There he laid the academic foundation for his future career in the water and sewer industry of Indiana, to which he dedicated nearly 40 years of his life.

Although his professional journey was marked by success, it was his role in community athletics that Jeff found most meaningful. With a gift for pushing young athletes to deliver their best, he devoted countless hours to coaching Sheridan Blackhawk football, established the town's first youth wrestling club, the Black Talons, and recently began refereeing local sporting events.

Jeff’s time off the field was most enjoyably spent on horseback. In the saddle and down a winding trail is where he felt most at peace in life. Sharing those moments with friends, family, and his children were among his most treasured memories.

Jeffery is survived by his wife, Carrie Leanne Woodcock, and their children: Mackenzie Roxanne Steckler, Richard Dylan Woodcock, Brandon Burrell Woodcock, and Lexi Leanne Woodcock.
His legacy will live on through his loving family, including his father, J.R. Woodcock, and siblings: Delores Sue McGrotty, John Roland Woodcock, Francis Myrl Schwab, Lillie Rae Grinstead, Kelly Hazen, Chaia Hazen, and David Hazen.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Kathy Strong, stepmother, Marilyn Woodcock, and sister, Jeanni Jo Woodcock.

Jeffery will be missed by many on his final and grandest ride, but hardly forgotten.

Load the hump, Woody - we’ll see you on the other side.

We ask friends and family to join us this spring to honor Jeff's life and celebrate his memory.
