Jean Joffe Gurvitz

Jean Gurvitz 92, died in San Diego, CA on Dec. 25. She taught piano for the JCC and JEA from 1955 until she started the Indiana Performing Arts Academy in 1985. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, and her sister, Eleanor Abramson of Long Island, New York.

She is survived by her children, Ferne (Andy) McCuen of San Diego and Howard (Jackie) Gurvitz of Chicago; brother, Irving (Pearl) Joffe; also, Jerome Joffe, Diana (Paul) Shapiro and Sandy (Alene) Abramson; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Donations in her name to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Bureau of Jewish Education are welcome.
