Jason Robert Brown

September 16, 1975 — November 29, 2025

Zionsville

Jason Robert Brown, 50, of Zionsville, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at home on November 29, 2025, leaving behind a world that will forever feel a little less steady. Quite ironic, considering Jason made a career out of stabilizing everything around him.

Born in Middletown, New York, Jason spent his early years perfecting his quick wit and good-natured mischief before moving to Northville, Michigan, at age 12. He graduated from Northville High School in 1993 and went on to Michigan State University, where he earned a degree in finance and a lifelong, unbreakable loyalty to his beloved Spartans. MSU became part of his identity and parenting style, creating a prized family thread and a special bond with his son, Aidan.

A highly respected 25+ year veteran of the multifamily and commercial real estate industry, Jason built a career defined by integrity, sharp insight, and a deep understanding of the financing world. He specialized in multifamily financing through Agencies, HUD, CMBS, banks, debt funds, and a wide range of capital sources, mastering a field that few understood with his level of expertise.

Jason liked to say his very first job was serving as a “newspaper delivery engineer,” assisting his older brother on his route for two years. He earned $5 an hour, plus donuts, which he considered fair compensation at the time. Even then, his work ethic, humor, and sense of responsibility were already in full form.

His commercial banking career began at Fifth Third in 1999 as a lender. In 2004, he moved to the broker side with iCap Realty Advisors, where his talent and drive became even more apparent. From there, he joined CBRE, starting in Michigan and eventually bringing his family to Indiana in 2012. Jason was incredibly proud of the exceptional team he built; professionally talented, deeply loyal, and very much an extended part of the Brown family. He later brought that team to Berkadia, where they continued to grow and excel together.

In time, Jason pursued his longtime aspiration of becoming a developer, combining his financial expertise with his creative vision and desire to provide for his family. This led him to Greystone, where he found the perfect balance. There, he continued to excel in financing while starting a company, LuxeBTR with his partner, pursuing to create luxury Build to Rent communities. It was the professional chapter he had long worked toward, and one he embraced with pride.

Above all else, Jason was a family man. He is survived by his wife of almost 20 years, Kelly, who he declared was “love at first sight” and then spent two decades proving it every day. He leaves behind his children Haley (26), Laney (23), and Aidan (16), who were his pride, joy and occasionally, his test subjects for whatever new DIY, mechanical, or organizational system he had just learned. Though his titles included “banker” and “developer,” his most important one was simply, “Dad.”

Jason also leaves behind his parents, Patricia (Clapp) and James Bosscher, and Robert Brown all of whom shaped the fiercely loyal, deeply thoughtful man he became. He is survived by his siblings Stacy (Gregg) Minegar, Chad (Sandra) Bosscher; their daughter, and Sandy Sherwood; and her two sons; his in-laws Ronald and Maryann Manduch and Kyle (Carla) Manduch; and their three sons, whom he shared playful banter that only happens when someone is both the cool uncle and the ringleader of mischief.

Jason was also the unquestioned hero of the household cats, Oliver and Pickles, and his late sidekick Gabby, who surely greeted him with a head butt on the other side. They followed him from room to room, draped themselves across him during late-night research rabbit holes, and treated him as their undisputed favorite human. They sensed what everyone else did: Jason had a comforting presence, a calm steadiness, and a soft spot for anything that needed love.

Jason also had a remarkable gift for friendship. He surrounded himself with people who appreciated his humor, loyalty, and brilliance, and he nurtured those relationships with the same intensity he brought to everything else in life. His closest friends were truly family: travel companions, golf buddies, confidants, and brothers in laughter and late-night conversations. Jason showed up for his friends, and they showed up for him. Those bonds, built over decades, were among the great joys of his life.

Jason lived his life with a rare combination of intensity and humor. He was driven, endlessly curious, the ultimate researcher. The keeper of all good advice, always prepared with the right answer, the right plan, or at least the right tool and could diagnose a car issue with nothing but a YouTube video and stubborn confidence. He planned legendary vacations, knew how to make ordinary days special, and had an uncanny ability to always know exactly what to do.

His happiest place was in the mountains: hiking, exploring, and pushing himself higher, always eager for the next summit. His family finds comfort in imagining him there now, on the trail, taking in the view.

Jason lived big, loved fiercely, and left an imprint that cannot be measured. To know Jason was to feel supported, understood, and deeply valued. His wisdom, humor, and fierce love for his family leave an irreplaceable void.
