Helaine Borinstein Simon

Helaine Borinstein Simon, a lifelong Indianapolis resident, passed away on December 1, 2025, at the age of 104.

Helaine was born in Indianapolis on October 25, 1921. She was a graduate of Tudor Hall 1939, and attended Sarah Lawrence College for two years before returning to Indiana to help with the Red Cross Motor Corps war effort.  She married Robert N. Simon on August 24, 1952. Helaine’s passions included her family, numerous friends, bridge and canasta, golf, gardening and the Indy 500. She was a classic beauty known for her elegant entertaining and grace.

Helaine is survived by her beloved daughter, Anne Ellman (Mark) and her five grandchildren, Elliot Simon, Evan Ellman (Shirley), Erin Simon-Maddox (Tyler), Allison Ellman Mintz (Mikey) and Matthew Ellman and her three great grandchildren.

Helaine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert N. Simon, and her son, John R, Simon.  

Graveside funeral services will be on Wednesday, December 3, at 2:00 pm in Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation's South Cemetery.
