Geraldine L. Haupt
74 years of age, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014. Gerry was born on March 27, 1940 to Walter and Margie Harman (Nee Henson) in Indianapolis, IN. She graduated from Southport High School, then married Bruce Bubenzer, with whom she had three children: Bruce, Jeffrey and Cynthia. Later Gerry met Hans Haupt in 1969, and they married in 1972. Hans helped raise the three children, but there was never any doubt about Gerry being the consummate mother. All grandchildren were baby sat by Gerry when the need arose, most never had any other sitter. When the youngest daughter, Cindy, entered Indiana University in 1984, Gerry decided to start college as well, earning a Bachelor of Social Work degree, Cum Laude, in 1988. She became a Case Manager at the Central Indiana Council of Aging, where she and many of her colleagues became lifetime friends.
Gerry is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Jeffrey. She is survived by husband, Hans Haupt; brothers, Gary Perkins and Scott Perkins; daughter, Cindy Bubenzer Cook; son, Bruce Bubenzer; seven grandchildren, Peter Bubenzer, Vanessa Bubenzer, Carrie Woolf, Austen Bubenzer, Matthew Bubenzer, Spencer Bubenzer and Stella Bubenzer; and four great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation at the Aaron-Ruben-Nelson (ARN) Mortuary, 11411 N Michigan Rd, on Thursday, October 23, 2014, from 4 - 7 PM. Because of Gerry's love of flowers, please bring a bulb that can be planted by Hans in her memory. Funeral Services will be private.
