Fran passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on December 18, 2025, at her home in Carmel, Indiana. She was born on July 20th, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, where she also grew up surrounded by family and strong Midwestern values that shaped her life.
Fran was a devoted and loving mother to her three children: her sons Harvey (former wife Debra), Michael (Pamela), and her daughter Marcie (Tyler). She was also a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Amanda, Aidan, Arista, Stephanie, John, and Mia, all of whom brought her great joy and pride.
Raised in a family that emphasized values, hard work, respect, and good manners, Fran carried those lessons throughout her life and passed them on to her children. Fran had a big influence on her childrens' lives and the lives of their friends. All of them remember her kindness and have stories about her wanting to feed them and take care of them. She felt it was her job to be everyone's mom, not just her kids.
Fran worked hard throughout her life to care for and support her children, always putting their needs first. Her strength, determination, and dedication were evident in everything she did, and her children remain grateful for the sacrifices she made to provide them with love and stability. She also lived an adventurous life spending time outdoors, being active
She had a playful side and a big heart. Fran loved turtles, and many friends and family delighted in gifting her turtle-themed decorations over the years. She also cherished the thrill and camaraderie of riding on the back of her son’s Harley-Davidson during the Loop for Life Charity Event, an event she also helped organize, showing her generous spirit and willingness to give back.
Services will be held on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary, located at 11411 N. Michigan Road, Zionsville, Indiana 46077.
Fran will be remembered for her kindness, her strong values, her love for family, and the lasting lessons she passed on through both words and example. Her legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched.
