Frances Calderon Lazerov

Frances Calderon Lazerov, affectionately known as Fran, was born on November 18, 1938, to Albert Samuel Calderon and Florence Sarfaty Calderon. A lifelong Hoosier at heart, Fran graduated from Shortridge High School and attended Indiana University.

On May 31, 1959, Fran married the love of her life, Israel Samuel “Sam” Lazerov. Together they raised two children, David and Florence, and built a life centered on family, faith, and community. Although Fran spent most of her life in Indianapolis, she and Sam also lived for a short time in Kansas City, Missouri, and New Orleans, Louisiana, during the early 1960s.

Fran earned her real estate license in 1967 and began her career at Carriage Estates. She later joined F.C. Tucker Company, where she spent the remainder of a remarkable career spanning more than 50 years. Fran earned numerous awards and accolades, but her greatest professional accomplishment was the trust she built with the people she served. She helped generations of clients, friends and family members find their homes, approaching each relationship with dedication, warmth and integrity.

Her Jewish faith was an important part of Fran’s life. She supported synagogues and Jewish organizations and gave generously of her time through volunteer work that began when she was young. Her connection to her faith and community remained a constant throughout her life.

Fran also knew how to enjoy herself. She loved music, movies, and her Mahjong group. She was an enthusiastic Indianapolis Colts fan who could be heard cheering for—or occasionally yelling at—the team from down the street. She especially loved Elvis Presley and continued dancing and singing along to his music nearly to the end of her life.

A longtime member of the Jewish Community Center, Fran enjoyed its many activities and particularly treasured her Silver Sneakers group. She could also hold her own in an aerobics class, happily “Sweatin’ to the Oldies” with Richard Simmons.

Above everything else, Fran loved her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin. Her family was the center of her world, and she took tremendous pride and joy in the lives of those she loved.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved husband, Sam. She is survived by her son, David Lazerov, and his wife, Heather; her daughter, Florence Reznik, and her husband, Doniel; her grandchildren, Blake Lazerov, Gabriel Reznik, and Karen Reznik; her sisters, Estelle Nelson, Janet Goldberg, and Cynthia Housefield; and many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Etz Chaim, Homes for Our Troops or the Jewish National Fund.

Funeral services will be on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 2 PM, all held at Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary. Burial will follow at Beth El Zedeck North Cemetery.
