Esther G. Rosen, a spirited and sharp-witted lady who brightened the lives of all who knew her, passed away at the age of 101. Born on February 12, 1924, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she brought her special blend of spunk and determination to every chapter of her remarkable life.
Esther married the love of her life, Maurice Rosen, and together they settled in Yorktown Heights, New York, to raise their family. It was there that she cultivated her lifelong passion for opera, volunteering for many years with the NYC Opera Guild. A talented knitter and formidable bridge player, she continued both activities with gusto until her last days.
In later years, Esther moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where she generously gave her time to The Indianapolis Children’s Museum and the IMA Greenhouse. She was a gifted storyteller who took immense joy in recounting tales and sharing news of her two great-grandsons, Matthew and Adam, as well as her great-granddaughter, Talia.
Esther is preceded in death by her husband, Maurice; her son, Stan; her parents; and her three sisters and their husbands. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Davis, and son-in-law, Dan; her granddaughters, Patti Hammerle (John), Alexis Rosen, and Stefanie Rosen; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Matthew, Adam, and Talia.
Donations can be made to The Hooverwood Guild, The Children's Museum, or a charity of your choice.
A celebration of life will be held at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary, 11411 North Michigan Road, on Monday, October 20th from 1 - 3 PM.
