Ellen Jane White, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away on January 26, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 84. Born on August 31, 1941, in Liberty, Kentucky, Ellen lived a life filled with love, laughter, and peaceful spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Ellen was the heart of her family, fostering deep connections and instilling in her children the values of kindness and resilience. She is survived by her devoted children, William J. White Jr., Deborah Dickens, Diana White, and Randy White. She will be lovingly remembered as "Mammaw" by her eight grandchildren, Justin (Katelyn) Ward, William Massing, Jonathan White, Jessica (Brandon) Alford, Ray White, and Jacob Genaro; and "Grammy" by her three great-grandchildren, Ryatt, Marley, and Raelynn Fultz, who carry forward her passion for life and love. Her fur baby, Bubba, will also mourn her in his own way.
Ellen’s life was not without its trials; she faced the profound loss of her nine siblings and husband, William J. White Sr, and the heartbreaking passing of her infant son, Charles. Her parents, William and Bertheta Turpin, also preceded her in death, but their nurturing spirits undoubtedly influenced the strength and compassion that defined Ellen throughout her life.
Ellen had a remarkable ability to bring joy into the lives of those around her. Whether through her infectious laughter, her wonderful cooking, or her nurturing presence, she created a warm home filled with memories that will forever be cherished. In her later years, Ellen found comfort in the simple pleasures of life—gardening, reading, and spending treasured moments with her grandkids.
Her absence leaves a great void in the lives of her loved ones, who will forever remember her as a beacon of light and love. Ellen’s legacy will endure through the fond memories she created, the values she instilled, and the unconditional love she so effortlessly shared.
As we gather our memories of Ellen Jane White, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with profound love and undeniable strength. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
