Jason Sol Zielonka, MD
Jason was born in Landsberg-Am-Lech, a displaced persons camp in Germany, on November 13, 1948 to Max and Rachel Zielonka, Jewish Holocaust survivors beginning to rebuild their lives after losing most of their families.
Jason immigrated to the US with his parents in 1949, where he grew up in the close-knit Jewish communities of Roxbury and Mattapan. He graduated from Boston Latin School in 1966, MIT in 1970, and Yale Medical School in 1974. Jason spent the majority of his career in the pharma industry with time at DuPont, Pfizer, and Eli Lilly before retiring. Even in retirement, he volunteered his time for biotech startups seeking his advice. He leaves his children, Benjamin and Sarabeth, six grandchildren, his brother Nathan, and his Doodle Shadow. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice or to the Chabad of Indiana, where he made many deep friendships and became a beloved member of the community, always willing to help others and never expecting anything in return. In that spirit, Jason became an integral member of the Indianapolis Chevra Kadisha, the sacred society that tends to the ritual bathing rites of the deceased. He will be missed by the friends he made in the Indianapolis community.
Services will be held Tuesday, August 11, in Boston at Beth-El Cemetery at 1 pm. A memorial gathering will take place in Indianapolis at a date to be announced. Please contact rabbi@chabadindiana.org for additional details.
May his memory be for blessing.
