Donald Bruce Silver, 78, of Indianapolis, passed away on March 2, 2024. Born in Louisville, KY to Sol and Idabelle Silver, Don grew up in Evansville and attended Central High School. He graduated from Indiana University in 1967 with a B.S. in Business/Accounting. At IU, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity.
After IU, Don moved to Indianapolis and worked as an accountant for RCA, until he found his true calling in commercial real estate. He held several real estate positions over the course of his career, including an early role as manager of Glendale Mall, but his specialty was selecting sites and developing free-standing retail locations. Over the years he worked for Burger Chef, Hardee’s, SteaknShake and Circle K. At the time of his death, he was employed by Meyer Foods Management Company, a Culver’s franchisee.
Don loved IU basketball and was a devoted fan even when they lost. He loved eating out, was known by name in several restaurants and was the go-to for restaurant recommendations among family. He could solve almost any math problem in his head, and with a real estate background he knew how to get around the city of Indianapolis like no one else.
Don loved spending time with family and is survived by his children Amy and Michael (Adrienne) and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marcia Silver.
Funeral services will be held at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary, 11411 North Michigan Road, on Thursday, March 7th at 11 AM, ET. Burial will take place at Mt. Carmel Cemetery of Evansville, Indiana on Friday, March 8th at 1 PM, CT. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
