Donald Abbitt,
84 of Indianapolis passed away July 11, 2013. He was born in Lebanon on March 28, 1929 to Beryl and Vera Abbitt. Donald received a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue. He started working as a trained bacteriologist for Eli Lilly and later became a Medical Sales Representative for Merck.
Donald was a yellow shirt at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for 63 years. He was also a Mason, Shriner, Eagle Scout and coached baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Jan; sons, David (Ahlie) Abbitt, Michael (Teresa) Abbitt, and Bruce Abbitt; daughter, Beth (Michael) Moline; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 17th at the Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary, 11411 North Michigan Road from 4-7 PM.
