David Eric Mizell

David E Mizell passed away on January 13, 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana, surrounded by family. He was born on October 22, 1962 in Charleston, South Carolina to Sherwin and Mary Ann (Larson) Mizell.  David grew up in Bloomington, Indiana and graduated from Bloomington High School North in 1981. He went on to graduate from the University of Illinois, Champaign- Urbana with a B.S in Architecture and did graduate studies for an MBA at Ball State University.

Although David studied architecture, his passion was in information technology. He served as Chief Information Officer for several healthcare entities. At the time of his death, he was Director of Product Management and Performance at GeoCerts, SSL.  Prior to moving back to Indiana, he resided in Atlanta, Georgia for over 20 years where he had numerous friends.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and his dog, Jordan.

David is preceded in death by his father, Sherwin Mizell. He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Mizell; brother, Steven Mizell; sister, Jennifer (Alan) Schwartz; nephews, Paul Mizell (Kayla), Cameron Mizell (Chelsea), and Jonathan Schwartz; and niece, Emily Schwartz.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary has been entrusted with David’s care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Atlanta Humane Society in David’s name.
