Darold Frank

Mar 9, 1954 — Sep 7, 2026

Darold Eugene Frank was a kind and generous man who showed his affection in practical ways, looking after the people around him and helping where he could. He found joy in music, nature, and the familiarity of home. Although his years in the Navy took him to far-off places, home was always his favorite place to be.

Darold was born on March 9, 1954, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, Indiana, to Phyllis Eskew Frank and Harold Eugene Frank, for whom he was named. He grew up in Carmel, attending Carmel schools from kindergarten through his graduation from Carmel High School. As a boy, he participated in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, along with many other activities.

Naturally handy and mechanically inclined, Darold brought his practical skills to many different kinds of work over the years. He worked for a time alongside his father, Harold, and his uncles, Merle and Cleo Frank, as a mechanic at Johnson Chevrolet. He spent the final years of his working life as a groundskeeper at Highland Golf Course in Indianapolis, a role that allowed him to spend his days outdoors in the natural surroundings he enjoyed.

Darold is survived by his wife, Janice, whom he affectionately called “Janny”; his sister, Donna Frank Riley (Joseph); his children, Amy Frank Kutac, Geoffrey Eugene Frank (Darcy), Kimberly Rexroat (Michael), and Leslie Kastner (Andrew); and his grandchildren, Katie McCavit, Seth McCavit, Austin Frank, Asasia Bostater, Geoffrey Frank, Jr., Rachael Frank, Brodie Knupp, Andrew Knupp, Johnathon Rexroat, Virginia Rexroat, Asher Kastner, and Nora Kastner. He is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Frank and Phyllis Frank Grizzle; his siblings, Diane, Dale, and Dawn; and his granddaughter, Jesse McCavit.

Darold will be remembered for his kindness, his capable hands, and the many practical ways he helped and looked after those around him.
