Dear Family & Friends: Thank you all for the outpouring of love & prayers for our family- Steve & Dave
Bruce Parker Bond (1937 - 2017)
Born to Henry & Alma Bond, January 2, 1937, Daytona Beach, FL; Bruce, age 80, is survived by his former wife Jane, brother Robert, sons Steven & David (Annie), stepsons Cliff (Adela) & Scott Wood; including five grandchildren (Melissa, Paul, Charlotte, Cody, Max).
Upon graduating from Monticello High School (IN, 1955), where he was class President & founding member of "The Derby Gang," Bruce enlisted in the Navy & was off to "see the world." After four years active duty as a mineman, Bruce returned from Japan to the DC area in 1959; where he met his wife Charlotte Jean Minton (mother of David & Steven, whom he survived after she went home to the Lord in 1968).
His career began in the family bridge building business (Stultz-Bond, IN); which led to an opportunity as a construction superintendent in DC (low to mid-rise commercial & residential). Bruce returned home to Indiana, as a business owner (Bond Equipment, heavy equipment sales, 1970-1990). In 1990, he joined his son Steven in the mortgage business, as the controller / accountant for North Shore Mortgage; from which he retired in 2010.
Outside family, his passions were sailing & the piano (performance caliber jazz). Bruce recently celebrated his 80th birthday with family, friends & piano playing- a lifelong gift of 75 years! Special thanks to Lisa Olson of Fishers & the Reid Family of Carmel (Sally & Charlie); for their love & care of Bruce during the past year.
A service (2pm) & celebration (3pm) will be held at the Hunters Glen Clubhouse (500 block East, Carmel Drive, Carmel, IN), Sunday, February 19th. In lieu of flowers, please consider a Bruce Bond memorial donation, to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (http://www.nmcrs.org).
